Shop Scap Art Yarn

Scap Art Yarn

from $20.00

Locally spun art yarn by local Ucluelet spinner and fiber artist, Donna Johnson.

Donna has been knitting and crocheting since she was a teenager and spinning for over 25 years. Her material supply comes from her brother and sister-in-law’s alpaca and goat farms on the island. Her current artistic expression has been in felting, which she has been practicing for six years and you can find her beautifully realistic felted pieces at the Ucluelet market in the summertime under the name Ukee Ewe.

Kim and Donna met while both vending at the Ucluelet Sunday Market and have been planning to use Kim’s scrap materials in upcycled scrap yarn for some time. What started out as simple scrap yarn has grown to include Donna’s beautiful work inspired by Kim’s favorite palettes of the Pacific North West Shorelines and Rainforests using alpaca and Icelantic wools. Donna hand dyes and spins from start to finish in her home studio in Ucluelet BC.
