Inspired by the textures of one of the world's most biodiverse ecosystems, the coral reef, this piece presents the stark reality that, one day, the only colours that could remain will be those of marine debris. Using recycled cotton rope and other white fibres, I depict the transformation of dying coral affected by pollution and human impact. Seascape #1 highlights the delicate balance of marine life and the pervasive presence of plastic, urging reflection on our environmental impact.

Upcycled oyster bags, polypropylene rope, and buoy collected over the years from beachcombing, the local landfill, and Tofino Oyster Fest - always keeping an eye out for how to give these beautiful fibrous materials a new life.
